What Makes Our Office Unique….
We want you to feel as comfortable and relaxed here as possible. You’ll notice our office environment is warm & inviting, not cold or clinical. Our friendly staff is highly trained in the areas of patient care & hospitality. To maintain our position as the area’s state-of-the-art surgical facility, we are constantly evaluating our established procedures & protocols and adding the newest, most up-to-date equipment & techniques. At The OC, you can be confident in knowing your care is in the hands of competent & compassionate professionals.
Your First Appointment….
Most often, your first appointment will be a consultation, in which we review your health history, perform a thorough oral exam & discuss treatment options. We may also take a panoramic x-ray, or pan, to evaluate the condition of your teeth, bone structure, sinuses, jaw joints, nerves & surrounding tissues. Pans provide the more comprehensive view required by oral surgeons than the smaller x-rays, or bitewings, typically taken by your general dentist. Most patients leave their first appointment with a treatment plan, estimate and surgery appointment.
Day of Treatment….
While every patient & procedure is unique, most treatments follow a similar pattern. Upon arrival & check-in, you & your driver (in the case of patients undergoing anesthesia) will be escorted to a room, where we will review your after-care instructions. Your driver will return to the reception area, where s/he must remain until you have been released. We will escort you to a surgery room & prepare you for treatment. Once you are comfortable, your doctor will complete the procedure. At this point, we will instruct your driver to move their car close to the patient exit. Our surgery assistants will transfer you to a wheelchair once you have sufficiently recovered from anesthesia & give you a ride to your waiting vehicle. We will give your driver any prescriptions which may be necessary & review any final instructions. By this time, most patients are quite alert and in disbelief their procedure is already finished! We keep a stash of fun props near the patient exit which you & your driver are free to use for photo ops.
